It wasn't a very big rosebush- quite small, only cost $5.99 at Lowes. But I was so proud of myself for planting and feeding it all on my own. It's one of those "knock-out" roses- supposedly indestructible. I did notice a few tiny leaves on the bottom of the four matchsticks that used to be stalks, so I think it might actually be coming back. So much for my suburban goddess fantasy. I'm much better at fire-escape gardens.
PS they also chomped down on my lemon verbena, peppermint and catnip.
Marie- I'm waiting for a Buffy quote from you . . .
Turkish roses would not have stood for it. They would have surrounded the bandit bunnies' hideout and starved them out, from both the Asian and the European sides.
A non-Turkish technique is to put a few drops of either fox or bobcat urine on a cloth near the lower parts of the rosebush. My vizier tried it on the new wooden raised vegetable beds and no bunny-destruction has taken place.

bummer. :-(
Oh no!
I always lost the impatiens to the rabbits. It always makes me sad to see the stalks of the plants ... and no flowers ...

Pasha
Are there places that actually sell bobcat urine?
This is yet another reason why I will never understand the suburbs. I miss my fire-escape.
